Vivo X20 Plus UD Launch Set for 24 January

Vivo is all set to launch the much-awaited Vivo X20 Plus under display fingerprint variant on Wednesday January 24. The company has made the device official and launched in China. The Vivo X20 Plus UD is basically the Vivo X20 Plus, with a fingerprint sensor placed inside the display instead. It has a 6.43 inch Super AMOLED display with a 2160 x 1080 px resolution which translates to an 18:9 aspect ratio. It is recently received certification on Chinese telecommunications authority TENAA and was initially claimed to be called the Vivo X20 Plus UD.

As per a couple of teasers released by Vivo through its official Weibo account, the company is hosting an event in Beijing, China, on January 24 to make the special announcement. The event will begin at 7:30pm CST (5pm IST, January 25).

TENAA listing confirms that the new Vivo X20 Plus variant is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, runs with Android 7 Nougat. Also coupled with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. It is powered by a 3930 mAh battery which charges via a USB C port.

It has a 2.2GHz octa-core processor. As far the optics section , it has a dual-camera setup consisting of a 24MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS along with a 5MP sensor. To the front of the phone is a 12MP sensor with soft LED flash and an f/2.0 aperture.. USB support, and 4G connectivity. Further, it appears to have 165.2×80.02×7.35mm dimensions, 183.1 grams of weight, and multiple colour options, including Black Gold, Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Matte Black.

Just like 2017 was a year of smartphones with dual-camera and face unlock, 2018 might see smartphones launching with Synaptics’ new technology. The company has, however, announced that it has begun mass producing its in-display fingerprint sensors, and 70 million units of the component will be made available to the market in 2018.

There is no official information about the smartphone’s availability or price in India yet, it is expected to be priced at around CNY 3998, which is Rs. 39000 approximately.
