Chinese smartphone company Huawei’s sub brand Honor is all set to launch the Honor 9 Lite in India today. The launch event is organized at New Delhi. The smartphone will be sold exclusively via Flipkart and is expected to cost less than 15,000 rupees. The 9 Lite comes with a quad camera setup, an 18:9 edge-to-edge display, Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and a sleek glass unibody design.
The Honor 9 Lite has dual 2.5D double-sided glass body design which helps it stand out from all the metal clad budget smartphones out there. As per the optics, It has a 13+2MP dual camera setup. Other features of the cameras include bokeh mode, PDAF and flash.
Just like the Honor 7X and Honor 9i, the Honor 9 Lite has an edge-to-edge display. The 5.65-inch IPS panel has an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2160 x 1080 (FullHD+). The tall 18:9 aspect ratio lends itself well to gaming and multimedia consumption.
Honor 9 Lite is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 659 processor, clocked at up to 2.36GHz. In China, the phone comes in three storage combinations – 3GB/4GB RAM with 32GB storage or 4GB RAM+64GB storage. However, based on Flipkart’s banner page, India will get two variants of the Honor 9 Lite: 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The phone supports expandable storage up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. It has sports a 3,000mAh battery which Honor claims can deliver 20 hours of talktime and 24 days of standby time.
Connectivity options include a microUSB port for charging and data transfer, a 3.5mm headphone jack and support for 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
The Honor 9 Lite is expected to be priced below Rs 15,000 in India with the base model possibly starting as low as Rs 11,000. The smartphone was launched in China a few weeks ago in two variants – one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage for CNY 11,700 (roughly Rs 11,700) and one with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for CNY 1,499 (roughly Rs 15,600).
